The project for consulting firm Milliman was a simple form-filling application intended to streamline processes such as client intake.
The program was written in large part using PHP and mysql and our workflow was structured using the Kanban framework.
Under the direction of a senior developer at Milliman my team started the application, but due to the short project timeframe was unable to fully develop the tool.
The project was later picked up and finished by some interns over the summer.
The Milliman project introduced me to a considerably different development environment than I was used to.
This was the first project I had worked on for a private, for-profit company, as well as the first time I used PHP, mysql or the Kanban management framework.
Unfortunately, due to the tight time frame of this project, I was unable to become proficient in any of these.
It was certainly interesting to learn about new kinds of web development, however, regardless of how comfortable I was with the languages
and frameworks afterwards. Overall, the experience taught me a great deal about professional workflow
and web development and for that it was certainly worthwhile.
